Define the channel workflow
State whether the editor is cutting talking-head videos, podcasts, faceless explainers, documentaries, tutorials, shorts, or repurposed livestreams. Each format has different proof requirements.
Name the deliverables
Include target runtime, weekly or monthly output, shorts or clips, captions, graphics, thumbnails, sponsor reads, music, sound cleanup, color, and export requirements.
Ask for relevant portfolio clips
Request two or three YouTube examples with notes about the editor's role. If retention, hooks, or pacing matter, say that directly so editors can send the right samples.
